RESOLUTION
Lifting of the Burn Ban

WHEREAS, Hopkins County has been under a burn ban since the first part of February, 2008 due to conditions appropriate for potentially damaging results; and

WHEREAS, Hopkins County Fire has responded to 39 grass fires during the month of February and to date in March; an

WHEREAS, Due to the most recent rainfall and the Texas Forest Service indicating that Hopkins County currently ranges in the very low portion of the Drought Index, there are indications that the current burn ban should be lifted; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED, That the Commissioners' Court of Hopkins County recognizes that conditions have improved since the burn ban was implemented; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Hopkins County Commissioners' Court has reviewed all the data from the Texas Forest Service and wishes to lift the burn ban.

APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Hopkins County Commissioners' Court at a regular meeting held on the 10th day of March, 2008.
