About Adult Probation (Community Supervision and Corrections Department)
The Eighth Judicial District Adult Probation Department (CSCD)
supervises adults who have been placed on probation for committing
felony and misdemeanors offenses. As of March 31, 2001, this department
supervises approximately 717 adults who were placed on community
supervision by the Eighth District Courts. An additional 1015 adults,
who received community supervision from the Eighth Judicial District
reside outside of this judicial district and are supervised by other
agencies.
Community Supervision is an alternative to incarceration. It is
designed to give the defendant an opportunity to correct his/her
mistakes while being allowed to remain in the community under certain
court-ordered and probation officer supervised, terms and conditions.
The Eighth Judicial District is under the command of the presiding
District Judge Robert E. Newsom. The Adult Probation Department
is under the direction of Chief Officer john D. Perry and the Deputy
Chief Officer is David A. Perry.
